South Sydney Crowes For Russel

Redfern’s favourite adopted hoodlum, Russel Crowe, along with business partner Peter Homes-a-Court, have managed to acquire 75% of the Rabbitohs by just a handful of votes. The duo are now allowed to appoint four of the eight board members, and who else but Eddie McGuire is at the top of the list.

“I’ve talked to Eddie about it.. I think it matches up really well in terms of his image,” Crowe said.

“I think it gives us a great opportunity to have someone with not only a high profile but a past that includes bringing a team that’s not going very well into profitability, I think we’ve got a lot to learn of Eddie.

“I haven’t had a second conversation with him because it wasn’t relevant until today, but now I’ll have a second conversation with him and now it will be up to him.”

Eddie, who is looking around the eastern suburbs for a place to live – with a cool $10 million budget, will have a lot on his plate between running nine, juggling his business empire, being president of Collingwood, and shopping for new suits. Meanwhile, with an injection of funding and new business ethic, the Rabbitohs should finally be on the road to reclaim their former glory.

Let’s just hope that Russel can control his temper in the boardroom, or the bunnies could be in a world of pain.
