Technical issues
The good people at Dreamhost contacted me this morning to inform me that I was at the top of their “heavy users” list. Not good. I spet the morning trying to find the problem, but couldn’t find a solution. Joel suggested that I switch wp-cache on. I did, and I hope that it works. Judging from the output of top, it has.
Also had a very long day at work, which was the culmination of a week where our server was replaced, resulting in a lot of downtime for our clients, who got very angry and tried to send us abusive emails. Luckily for us, the email was down too. I took the opportunity to head down to Melbourne while the chaos was resolved.
More issues this afternoon when we discovered that a few water meters weren’t working. Turns out that they had used to wrong meter for the job, and we’ll need to sweet talk our way out of an increasingly gloomy hole.
Luckily I’m heading to Melbourne again for a couple of days next week, so hopefully that issue blows over while I’m gone.
Meanwhile I have enthused enough of the guys to start playing Diplomacy, a play-by-email board game I recently stumbled across. Progress can be followed here.
